A Day In My Life With a SMART LTE iPad

Last Wednesday night, I decided not to bring my MacBook Air to my Thursday meetings and just use my 2-week old iPad 4th Gen with LTE from Smart. I know that it will be a challenge for me since I am always dependent on my MacBook Air, but since I’ll be taking public transportation to my meetings, I decided to bring the iPad which is smaller and easier to carry. Besides, I need an internet connection whenever I do a presentation, so the LTE connection of Smart will be very useful in this case.

So here is a day in my life with the Smart LTE-powered iPad.

6:00 a.m.

I woke up early in the morning and one of the first things I did was to check my emails and social networking accounts on the iPad. I do not have the work files I need for my presentation on the iPad, but I have most of my work files stored in Dropbox (free on the App Store) so I simply downloaded the files that I need within a minute. The videos, however, are needed to be transferred from my MacBook via iTunes and I got that done in a cinch as well. My iPad is fully charged and ready to face the day.

9:00 a.m.

Sent several emails and did some web research. I use the Gmail app (free on the App Store) for work, blog, and pesonal accounts. I also checked if I have all the files I needed on the iPad before I left my home office.

1:30 p.m.

I arrived at Power Plant Mall for my 1st meeting. Took the iPad our from my bag and I smiled after seeing the LTE signal at full bar. While waiting for the person I was going to meet with, I opened the Speedtest app to check my LTE speed in this area.

2:30 p.m.

My meeting started and I did my thing. Since my deck was converted into a PDF file, I used Adobe Reader (free on the App Store) to open the file and show to my client. I also played a couple of videos on the iPad to demonstrate how our service works. I mentioned earlier that I needed an internet connection with my presentation, and with the help of Smart’s fast LTE, the websites I used for my demo loaded fast. Meeting went well and on to my next meeting.

5:00 p.m.

The 2nd meeting has already ended and I looked for a bench here to rest. While resting, I decided to download an eBook and read a few pages. I also sent the deck to the client I met earlier via email.

5:30 p.m.

I decided to write a draft of my blog post using the WordPress app (free on the App Store). I have an Apple Wireless Keyboard and I left it at home but the iPad’s onscreen keyboard is good enough for me to use.

7:30 p.m.

I arrived at Commune Cafe for another meeting, this time with friends for our upcoming event. We were drafting a sponsorship letter and I used an app called Smart Office 2 (free on the App Store). The app can create, edit, and view word, excel and powerpoint files. I sent it to my friend via email for further editing.

Another friend approached me and asked about the games I play on my iPad. I avoid playing games because it affects my productivity, but I did install a game called Quintet (free on the App Store) which was recommended by Jayvee Fernandez of Abuggedlife.com. The game is like playing Star Trek and can even support up to 5 multiplayers. And again, with the help of my fast LTE connection, I was able to connect and play with other gamers, and then we realized that we were still in a meeting.

By the way, one of my friends asked if he can connect to my iPad’s LTE, and because I am kind to my friends I shared it buy turning on my Personal Hotspot and his MacBook connected in a jiffy.

11:00 p.m.

I arrived home pleased with the day’s events. After my evening rituals, I took one last look at my social network feed on my iPad until I fell asleep.

So I was able to live a day with my iPad for all those activities. If you noticed, all the apps I have used are for free, meaning anybody can download and use them instead of bringing a heavy, bulky laptop. Best of all, my iPad was connected to Smart’s LTE connection for the whole time. I didn’t have to look for a WiFi hotspot. I was able to get things done fast so I can do other stuff in my list.

Now, do you want to have an iPad with LTE as well? You are just in luck! Smart will have a sale event this weekend at the EDSA Shangri-La Plaza Mall. You can get a new iPad Mini at Php 9000 off or opt for a 24 months installment at 0%. In my previous post, it’s usually at Php 8,000 off so you get a Php 1,000 extra discount only from June 8-9. You can opt between Plan 499 with 65 hours of LTE usage or Plan 999 with Unlimited LTE.

Whether you get an iPad 4th Generation or an iPad Mini, as long as you’re connected to Smart LTE, then you will always be on the fast lane.

  1. I applied last July 14, 2013 for an I-Pad Smart LTE 24 months amortization plan and they said it was approved but till now there are still no feedback when to get the unit. Why does it takes so long? Almost 3 weeks already?

  2. Hi Lizeth,

I suggest you make a follow-up to their @SMARTCares Twitter account. They usually respond there. I hope they will be able to help you with your inquiry. Good luck!
