Just two months after we get the news that Microsoft is removing the Nokia brand from its smartphones, the Finnish tech company announces its comeback with the Nokia N1.
Unveiled to a surprised crowd at the Slush Technology Conference in Helsinki, the N1 is a tablet that features a 7.9-inch laminated display encased in a one-piece aluminum body that’s only 6.9mm thin. It’s powered a 2.4GHz Intel Atom TM quad-core processor, and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop that’s skinned with the Z Launcher, Nokia’s homegrown interface programmed to learn its user’s digital habits and preferred apps depending on location and the time of day.
“The N1 has a delightfully intuitive interface and an industrial design to match it,” said Sebastian Nyström, Head of Products at Nokia Technologies. “This is a great product for Nokia fans and everyone who has not found the right Android tablet yet.”
The N1 places Nokia right back in game, probably even frustrating Microsoft, its former partner that has been trying to make its market forget about the Finnish brand.
The N1 Android tablet is set to be released in China in the first quarter of 2015 for approximately $249 or Php 11,190.
