ASUS RX 6800 Series Announced

ASUS has announced their ROG STRIX/TUF Gaming AMD Radeon RX 6800 Series GPU lineup. Sporting the new AMD Radeon RX 6000 powered by RDNA 2 GPU gaming architecture, it heralds a new generation of Radeon graphics. In order get more out of these new GPUs, ASUS engineers are hard at work in developing  ROG STRIX and TUF Gaming graphics cards that will deliver high performance, low temperatures and quiet operation for users.

ASUS RX 6800

The Radeon RX 6800 XT is one of the most powerful GPUs in the lineup that AMD has built. The GPU’s raw power spurred ASUS engineers to design a cooling system that will unleash its full potential. This in turn led to the engineers opting for liquid cooling. PC enthusiasts the world over should be familiar with the benefits of using all-in-one liquid cooling systems for cooling CPUs. All-in-one liquid cooling kits are available to some GPU models allowing enthusiasts to customize and further improve GPU performance.

The ROG Strix LC Radeon RX 6800 XT fuses the power of air and liquid cooling out of the box. ASUS redesigned the GPU from the ground up to feature this AIO. A large cold plate contacts with the GPU die and GDDR6 memory modules that surround the chip. Instead of passing heat inside the case, it transfers heat through the loop and out through the radiator. A 240mm radiator allows for maximum compatibility with today’s range of desktop cases. A low noise blower fan along with a low-profile heatsink within the GPU shroud keeps the power delivery circuits cool.

600mm coolant hoses allow for flexible mounting options inside any case. The hoses are sleeved in textile webbing to protect the hoses from abrasions.

Custom designed 120 mm fans optimized for high CFMs and static pressure keep air moving through the radiator. As with other ROG STRIX GPUs, the ROG STRIX LC Radeon RX 6800 XT’s onboard Fan Connect II headers can be connected to a pair of system fans. These headers let connected case fans respond directly to changes in GPU or CPU temperatures.

ASUS RX 6800

Aside from the ROG STRIX LC RX 6800 XT, AMD has the Radeon RX 6800 to bring ‘Big Navi’ performance to more midrange systems. The ROG STRIX RX 6800 comes decked out with all the latest ASUS advancements for air cooled graphics cards.

A massive 2.9-slot (or 3 slot rounded up ) heatsink effectively transfers heat away from the GPU using multiple heat pipes and a MaxContact base plate, which has an increased surface area for better heat transfer. A trio of Axial Tech design fans push in plenty of air through the dense heatsink fin array while having minimized noise levels. The custom short PCB length of the ROG STRIX RX 6800 facilitates a ventilation cutout in the full length back plate of the cooler. This allows for heat to exit the GPU.

TUF Gaming pairs sturdy and stealthy designs with the RX 6800 XT and RX 6800

ASUS RX 6800

Similar to the ROG STRIX, the TUF Gaming RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 come with a 2.9 slot heatsink and Axial-tech fans. This proven design allows higher RPMs and more air flow through the heatsink without increasing noise. An angular aluminum shroud with the new TUF industrial design wraps around the heatsink.

A full length aluminum backplate covers the rear of the Graphics card. Also a large ventilation cutout providing a flow through for the heatsink to exhaust hot air from the card. Auto-Extreme technology precisely places and solders components without human intervention to boost reliability and build quality. A 144 hour testing regime ensure out of the box reliability and long service life. The card is customizable and can match the lighting theme of the system through Aura RGB LEDs.
