A contest was held during the Asus MeMo Pad HD7 event where we were asked to form groups to complete the tasks assigned to us. I was lucky to form a group with fellow blogger friends and thanks to our individual talents, each of us went home with a brand new Asus MeMo Pad HD7 Android tablet.
Let’s do an unboxing, shall we?
The package came with the usual USB cable, charger head and a manual. Asus threw in a tablet stand which I find very useful, especially I do not have their Transcover yet.
The MeMo Pad HD7 comes in 5 colors, and I picked grey which some people mistake for black. It’s one of the 2 colors (the other one being blue) that has a matte-finish while the other 3 are glossy.
I went on to set up my credentials on the tablet.
First Impressions
I’ll just make this short before it becomes a full review which I intend to post next week. I’ve seen so many Android tablets in the market that I do not bother to ask each brand what makes them different from their competition. The Asus MeMo Pad HD7 has easily convinced me that they are indeed different from the likes of the local tablet brands. Here are my reasons:
1. The screen is a beauty.
2. After installing apps, movies, and games, I did not encounter any lags on the MeMo Pad HD7. The UI is so smooth I could hardly believe it’s using an MTK processor for this tablet. Asus has tapped MTK to power up this tablet and that was one of the factors why the price is so low. I have mentioned in my previous reviews that MTK has been giving me good impressions lately, and so far they’re doing well with this MeMo Pad HD7.
3. They did some tweaks in the software. I will elaborate this in my review.
4. Asus bundled software. Are they useful or bloatware? We’ll find out soon.
5. The grey color added some class to this nice tablet.
In my previous entry, I posted pictures of the Nexus 7 2013 and the MeMo Pad HD7. Here are a couple of pictures with the Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt this time.
I know the Fusion Bolt is cheap and all and I shouldn’t complain much about it. However, after a certain period of time I felt that its performance is not up to my standards. The Asus MeMo Pad HD7 is showing a lot of promise and I really think this can be my main tablet for those days I want to travel light.
