MyPhone Announces Distribution of SuperD D1 with 3D Display

It’s a bit unusual, but MyPhone has just announced a new smartphone with a cool feature, except it’s not theirs. The country’s first Filipino mobile phone brand is the distributor of the SuperD D1, a smartphone with a built-in 3D display. This is a partnership between MyPhone and Super D, a company based in China that specializes in optical technology especially in the field of autostereoscopic 3D or also known as glasses-free 3D.

The SuperD D1 is in 2D mode by default until the user launches the phone’s 3D apps. The lenticular lenses (composed of an array of half cylindrical lenses that refracts light from each pixel to both eyes to create an illusion of depth) works together with the D1’s dedicated eye-tracking camera which allows the user to view image and video content in 3D from any angle without wearing any 3D glasses. SuperD even has its own graphics 3D chipset that works hand-in-hand with the phone’s standard GPU for a smoother 3D experience.

The D1 has 3D-ready content for videos and gaming. These will be taken a closer look in my upcoming review in a few days.

Here are the SuperD D1 Specs:

Processor:MTK MT6750T 1.5 GHz Octa-Core processor | MALI-T860 MP2 + SUPERD 3D/VR mobile graphics chipset

Unfortunately, I have no pictures or videos to show the capabilities of this phone to show 3D. There is really no way, unless you are able to get a hold of a unit. If you have played with a Nintendo 3DS before, then it’s the closest way to describe the 3D experience with the SuperD D1.

The SuperD D1 will be available in Lazada and the MyPhone Shop on January 30. The Super D D1 Price is P11,990 and comes with a FREE VR headset worth P999 for the first 1,000 buyers.

I’ll be posting a review of the SuperD D1 on or before Monday, January 30.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
