Nokia Intros Nokia 9 PureView with Five Camera Array; Nokia 4.2, 3.2, 1 Plus and 210 also Revealed
HMD Global, home of the Nokia brand, announced four exciting Android smartphones, addressing both the high-end and entry-level smartphone segments. From the photography-centric Nokia PureView 9 to the feature-packed Nokia 210, consumers can find a right Nokia for them.
NOKIA 9 PUREVIEW
Photography enthusiasts will be pleased to meet the Nokia 9 PureView and its world-first five camera array with ZEISS Optics. This unique setup of two color sensors and three monochromatic sensors work together to capture up to ten times the amount of light compared to a single color sensor of the same type. With five sensors at its disposal, images captured have an impressive dynamic range, with up to 12.4 stops of dynamic range and a full-scene 12 MP depth map. Outstanding bokeh effect is achieved with this depth map, and even gives users the ability to adjust focus in Google Photos after the shot has been taken.
The Nokia 9 PureView also allows saving captured images in uncompressed RAW “DNG” format. Partnering with Adobe, users can take full advantage of this feature with editing in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom right on the device. It’s also worth noting that, in spite of the rear five camera setup, there’s no camera bump to speak of.
Other features include the tried-and-tested Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, a 2K pOLED PureDisplay screen covered with Gorilla Glass 5, integrated Qi Wireless charging, and an under-display fingerprint sensor.
The Nokia 9 PureView is already shipping and will be available at a global average retail price of 699 USD.
NOKIA 4.2
The Nokia 4.2 sports a premium, 8.2mm thin, glass body design, a 5.71″ HD+ all-screen display with a selfie camera notch, and a 3,000 mAh battery. There’s a dual depth-sensing camera setup, AI innovations, and the latest generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 and running the latest Android 9 Pie.
There’s also the dedicated Google Assistant button, which you can press once to activate Google Assistant and twice to receive a visual snapshot of your day with intelligent suggestions and personalized information. You can also hold and long press for walkie-talkie mode, where Google Assistant will listen to you until you release the button.
Availability will start on April with a global average retail price of 169 USD for the 2GB/16GB variant and 199 USD for the 3GB/32GB variant.
NOKIA 3.2
In spite of what the name would suggest, the Nokia 3.2 actually has a bigger display than the Nokia 4.2. At 6.26 inches, it’s about half an inch bigger and still features the same HD+ resolution. The bigger size also means the battery has been upped by 1,000 mAh, now at 4,000 mAh. It’s also powered by the latest Android 9 Pie version and the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 mobile platform.
The Nokia 3.2 also has a dedicated Google Assistant button, with the same functions as on the Nokia 4.2
Availability will start in early May for a global average retail price of 139 USD for the 2GB/16GB variant and 169 USD for the 3GB/32GB variant.
The Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 4.2, and Nokia 3.2 are all part of the Android One program. As such, they are running basically stock Android and are guaranteed to receive security updates from Google for at least 3 years, and OS updates for 2 years.
NOKIA 1 PLUS
At the very entry-level is the Android Go-powered Nokia 1 Plus. The Nokia 1 Plus offers solid imaging performance, a big screen, combined with excellent build quality as users have come to expect. With its streamlined Android Go OS, users can enjoy all of their usual Android apps as well as Android Go apps such as Google Assistant Go.
Built with innovative materials and 3D tooling, the Nokia 1 Plus also comes with a beautiful nano-pattern at the back and surrounds it to the sides. The rear camera comes with a convenient auto focus, while the selfie camera has an enhanced “beautify” feature.
The Nokia 1 Plus will be available to buy starting mid-March for a global average retail price of 99 USD.
NOKIA 210
The Nokia 210 joins the company’s feature phone family. With its Opera Mini internet browser, users can browse the web without having to worry about battery life. Users can also download other apps, ringtones, and wallpapers from the Mobile Store.
The Nokia 210 is a very important model for the company, as it is the most affordable phone in its line-up with internet access capability. It comes in a durable, inherently colored, polycarbonate body, designed to hide everyday wear and tear.
The Nokia 210 will be available starting March for a global average retail price of 35 USD.
COMPANION PRODUCTS
Nokia has also expanded their accessories portfolio with two Qi-compatible wireless charging solutions: the Nokia Wireless Charger and the Nokia Portable Wireless Charger.
The Nokia Wireless charger has a maximum charging output of 10W, making it great for quick top-ups at home or in the office. The Nokia Portable Wireless Charger is a power bank with wireless charging capabilities. It also has USB output so even devices that do not support wireless charging can still charge via a USB cable.
