Sony Xperia Z4 Unveiled in Japan

Completely missing the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, Sony now reveals its flagship, the Xperia Z4 — but only in Japan.

Sony Xperia Z4

The Xperia Z4 is a thinner and lighter version of the Z3 measuring around 6.9mm with a weight of 144g. It sports a 5.2-inch full HD display that goes for a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which is definitely worthy of a flagship. Beneath its liquid crystal screen purrs a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset supported by 3GB of RAM and an internal storage of 32GB that’s upgradable to 128GB via microSD. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop, with of course, several Sony Mobile software.

The Xperia Z4 also gives us an impressive 20.7 Exmor RS rear snapper with “camera shake correction”, as well as a 5.1MP Exmor R at the front. The device is powered by a 2,930mAh, and usual, its dust- and water- resistant.

There’s still no news on whether or not the Xperia Z4 will be launched abroad, probably because of CEO Kazuo Hirai’s earlier announcement of “no longer pursuing sales growth in areas such as smartphones”. Yes, the Xperia Z4 doesn’t have anything new or radical design-wise that can compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, but it has very solid specs and a powerful name in tech to back it up. We’re still hoping that it reaches South East Asia soon enough — it’ll be sad not to have Sony as a local mobile market player.
