Exploring Samsung’s Latest Galaxy Z Flip5, Z Fold5, Tab S9, and Watch6
Back once more, here comes Samsung as they launched their latest foldable smartphones. Ahead at their Samsung Unpacked 2023 event in Korea, Samsung Philippines gave us an early preview of their products that will be announced at the event. We got a new Galaxy Flip, Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Tab, and a Galaxy Watch. These are tons of products to cover and in this article, we will help you know the things about what were announced on the said event.

Galaxy Z Flip5
They finally upgraded its hinge design for both the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5. When closed, it is fully shut flat, there is no more gap when folded. Making the new Galaxy Z Flip5 15.1mm when closed, and that is a 2mm decrease compared to its previous generation. It still has an IPX8 rating, meaning it is still a water-resistant smartphone that can go 1.5m for 30 mins.
The next big change is its cover screen. It is now bigger having a 3.4-inch screen compared to its 1.9-inch screen in its predecessor. You can express your personality and style as it has various customization that it offers. It is limited to widgets and customized images or videos, and stylish frames, but you can quickly reply using a QWERTY keyboard.
On paper, the camera of the Galaxy Z Flip5 is still similar having 12 megapixels on both its main and ultrawide rear cameras and on its front camera that has 10 megapixels. However, they upgrade its image sensor which is now similar to Galaxy S23.
Its processor is now a Snapgradon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy which are the processors that the Galaxy S series this year are using. For other specs like the battery, charging, and inside screen, they all remain the same.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 colors are Graphite, Cream, Lavender, and Mint. But, you can get exclusive colors on Samsung online stores which are Gray, Blue, Green, and Yellow. The exclusive colors have a black frame while the Cream, Lavender, and Mint have a silver finished frame.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 has minimal changes if you just look at its outside appearance. But, they made some upgrades if you are using it. It is now lighter than 10g and 2.4mm compared to the previous generation. Its display brightness increased from the peak of 1,300nits to 1,750nits and HBM from 1,000 nits to 1,200 nits.
Inside the Galaxy Z Fold5, besides the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor upgrade that it got, it also has a 38% larger vapor chamber. It remains the same for its camera megapixels except for its telephoto as it is now 12 megapixels.
We saw also some improvements in its software experience. Interactive short-form viewing experience using its larger display gives you the video content and the comment box on the whole screen for TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. Flex Mode viewing on YouTube, NetFlix, and Disney+ offers you media control, comments and etc.
They also improve their taskbar as you can now quickly switch between apps. You can easily display and hide pop-up views, making your multitasking go to the next level. Also, you can quickly copy contents and drop it to other apps using your two fingers. Lastly, they made tweaks to its Flex Mode Panel having more options available for you.
Available colors for the Galaxy Z Flip5 are Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream. But there are exclusive colors that are available in its Samsung online store, which are Gray and Blue.
It is exciting to see also that its case which has S pen is not anymore bulged out. It is now inside the case having 56% slimmer.

Galaxy Tab S9 Series
They announced three models for its Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series. The Galaxy Tab S9 has an 11-inch display, Galaxy Tab S9+ has 12.4-inch, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra has 14.6-inch, and these are still similar sizes but are now using Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays that have outstanding vividness with real black and high-color reproduction, Additionally, they added enhanced eye comfort for low blue light display and improved viewing experience when using outdoor or even under direct sunlight.
Speaking of outdoor experience, they finally have an IP rating for their tablets making its world’s first IP68 certified in Premium Tablet and S Pen. Plus they have an outdoor cover with a horizontal standing case that you can pair with it. By the way, the S Pen that has an IP68 water-resistant rating is included in the box.
Under the hood of the Galaxy Tab S9 series is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy that they are using, making it the most powerful Android tablet in the market right now.

Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic
The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic received several upgrades. It has a 20% larger display and it is much brighter screen. It has a 30% slimmer bezel and a 15% thinner rotating bezel. For software we saw improvements with its sleep monitoring feature and workout features. We were not able have a deep dive on its software features as we got limited time, but hopefully, once we got an opportunity to review we can fully explore its features. The Galaxy Watch6 has 40mm and 44mm sizes, and the Galaxy Watch6 Classic has 43mm and 47mm. They didn’t announce a new pro version of the Galaxy Watch.
