An Honor 6 Plus unit surprisingly landed on my lap last night during Huawei’s event, and it deserves an unboxing. Don’t be fooled by the soft aqua packaging, though, as what’s inside is a monster of a camera phone.

The Phone
The Honor 6 Plus greets you as you lift the lid. It’s slim and sturdy, and you’ll feel that it’s really a premium phone as soon as you weigh it in your hand.
The first thing you’ll probably notice is the bezel — or the almost lack of it. The minimal screen frame slopes to metal-like strips that line both sides, making it look all the more sophisticated. On the right edge you’ll find the volume rocker, the power button, and the SIM slots.
Note that both SIM slots are 4G/LTE-ready, and the secondary slot can accommodate either a nano-SIM or a microSD, so you’ll need to decide if you’ll forgo another 4G SIM for more memory or vice-versa.
Turn the phone over and you’ll see a quick guide you can refer to especially if you’re a first-time Huawei user. Remove the protective strip and you’ll see its patterned fiber glass back panel, which reminds me a little of the backing of the Nexus 4. Unfortunately, it isn’t installed with Corning Gorilla Glass, so you may want to take extra care not to scratch it.
On the top left edge you’ll notice the Honor 6 Plus’ star feature — the dual parallel cameras. Yes, you technically have an 8MP rear snapper, but remember that you have two high-powered lenses supported by dual-LED flash simultaneously working for each shot, so that set-up can kick up its performance to a whole new level. The Peripherals
Beneath the phone are two additional boxes. The bigger one has your usual suspects: earphones, a USB cable, and a USB charger. The other box has your SIM tray eject pin, the warranty pamphlet, the quick guide, and a pair of phone protectors. You may need to place one on the back panel, since it’s more prone to scratching that the main display.
