DJI Mavic Air 2 Launches With Bigger Sensors, Longer Air Time, Better Safety Measures
The DJI Mavic Air 2 is the company’s best jack of all trades drone. This compact drone is touted to bring optimum performance on all sides achievable even for novice fliers. As the first Mavic Air’s successor we’re seeing phenomenal improvements as well convenient additions to the drone in both hardware and software.
First off, the Mavic Air 2 brings about amazing imaging and video capabilities accessible to all users. For hardware enhancements, the Mavic Air 2 has the new half-inch “Quad Bayer” sensor that brings image quality up a notch. Combined with other cameras, users can easily capture 12MP images or even 48MP images (full-resolution) in crystal clear detail supported by a mechanical gimbal.
The Mavic Air 2 is also first on DJI’s Mavic series to offer 4K videos at ease. Shoot default 4K video at 60 fps and 120 Mbps or opt for the HDR video feature. With HDR mode, both 4X Slow Motion in 1080p at 120 fps and 8X Slow Motion in 1080p at 240 fps are possible. DJI also added the SmartPhoto feature able to shoot 12MP photos and automatically adjusts the image capture mode to use. The capture modes, HDR, Hyperlight, and Scene Recognition are noteworthy features as well.
Intelligent features like the Hyperlapse also allows the Mavic Air 2 to shoot 8K time-lapse videos while the drone’s flying. In the same vein, the FocusTrack is the most advanced tracking system on the DJI drone portfolio. With FocusTrack, there are three capture modes available, ActiveTrack 3.0, Point of Interest 3.0, and Spotlight 2.0. These three focuses on mapping subjects for seamless shots.
The Mavic Air 2 is light and foldable at only 570 grams. DJI switched its components to achieve longer flight time of up to 34 minutes. It has new motors, more intuitive speed controllers, and the exclusive OcuSync 2.0 transmission technology. With Ocusync 2.0, users can get stable signal from the drone up to 10km away. It supports 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequency bands, switches between the two depending on signal strength, and keeps the video clear by blocking unwanted signals. DJI aims to give Mavic Air 2 users a chance to run wild creatively.
Aside from all these specs, DJI promises a safe and reliable drone experience with AirSense and other features. AirSense detects and alerts users of other aircrafts that might collide with your drone. DJI couples this new technology together with front and rear obstacle sensor and a safety lowlight landing bottom sensor.
The DJI Flying App has also been improved letting users edit and adjust footage directly in-app. It’s user-friendly as well to let pilots familiarize easily with the new drone. The Mavic Air 2 will be coming in the Philippines in two packages as the following:
