MyPhone released a couple of high-end phones last year called the Infinity and Infinity Lite. I’ve played with both of these devices during the Blog Con hosted by MyPhone last summer, and I thought they were pretty cool!
Too bad I didn’t had the chance to review them back then, but they’re making up for it by loaning me a review unit of its updated version called the MyPhone Infinity 2 Lite. So instead of sleeping, here I am, still wide awake after 20+ hours excited to come up with this Unboxing post.

THE UNBOXING
The package comes with the usual stuff. A MyPhone Infinity 2 Lite, USB Cable. USB Charger Head, in-ear earphones, Quick Start Guide and User Manual. I like its simple white packaging which is similar to the iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S3.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: HARDWARE
The MyPhone Infinity Lite 2 is not just a lower-spec version of the still unknown Infinity 2 (I have no idea yet about its availability yet), it’s also literally LITE!! This is one of the lightest smartphone I’ve held, if not the lightest among them all. The spec sheet says it only weighs 82g with the battery already included. Unbelievable!!!
The original Infinity phones looked like iPhones at first glance with back covers which I thought were made of glass. They’re actually made of some sort of plastic, but nevertheless they look fabulous especially the white variant which has some glittery designs. MyPhone did away with those and applied a simpler back cover with a surface I couldn’t describe as of the moment. It ain’t glossy, it’s not matte finishing either. The best way to describe it is like holding a piece of sandpaper, without its abrasiveness. It’s a welcome change really to have this kind of material as a back cover and I reckon it might react well for users with sweaty hands, meaning it won’t easily slip.
The sides are made of aluminium that adds a touch of premium on the Infinity 2 Lite and it blends well with the grayish back cover and the black screen at the front.
Before I forget, there are 2 variants of the MyPhone Infinity 2 Lite: 8GB ROM with 1GB of RAM and 16GB ROM with 2GB of RAM. The evaluation unit I have right now has the 16GB ROM + 2GB RAM.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: SOFTWARE
An obvious change seen in the MyPhone Infinity 2 Lite is the removal of the app drawer. It’s an unusual move but I think it’s a smart one. First time Android users especially those who came from using an iPhone would feel right at home when they see all the apps at once on the homescreen. Widgets can still be added if you want to add some pizazz to the Infinity 2 Lite.
Antutu Benchmark shows a score of 28,549 which is expected from an Octa-Core device.
The score shows that the MyPhone Infinity 2 Lite can be in the same company of the big boys. As always, real world usage is still the best way to measure the phone’s performance and as expected I will be doing just that during the course of my review in the next several days.
My only caveat so far with this smartphone is its operating system. Aside from their Android One phone, the Uno, MyPhone recently released the Rio 2 and Rio 2 Lite, both already on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Why is the Infinity 2 Lite not on Lollipop then? I am not sure if this information is accurate, but I remember talking to someone in the telco industry recently that the MTK MT6592 chipset doesn’t support Android 5.0 yet.
