REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G Review: Titan Tough Performance in a Mid-Range Device

I was using the REDMI Note 14 5G since November when Xiaomi Philippines delivered a new phone to evaluate. To my surprise, it was the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G. I received the unit weeks before it was launched in Cebu last January and I have been using it ever since. The review is already overdue so let me go ahead and share my thoughts and findings about this device which Xiaomi claims to be “Titan Tough.”

The Unboxing

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

I initially noticed the new packaging design of the REDMI Note 15 series. It usually has the image of the phone with the model name on top. From what I’ve researched, Xiaomi updated the design of the packaging to align with a new visual identity for the REDMI Note series, enhance sustainability, and reflect the increased focus on device durability, hence, the “Titan Tough” marketing campaign.

Inside the box are the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G, Silicon Case, Type-C USB Cable, 45W Charger, SIM Card Ejector and User Manuals.

The Looks and Feel

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

In all honesty, I picked up the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G from its box and asked myself “how can this be Titan Tough?” And then I remembered all the previous tough phones I’ve reviewed in the past, including Xiaomi’s, were made of tough polycarbonate material. In this case, this REDMI Note’s frame is made of reinforced polycarbonate with metallic finish. I’ll discuss its toughness later as you read further.

In spite of the phone’s tough built, it surprisingly weighs kinda light at 210g. It is easy to hold and I can slip it inside my jeans pocket easily. It doesn’t have curved edges like the other REDMI Note 15 models but I didn’t mind at all.

On top of the phone are the secondary microphone for noise cancellation, IR blaster and speaker grille. Volume rocker and power button are found on the right side of the REDMI Note.

At the bottom are the SIM Card slot, microphone and speaker grille. The REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G can accommodate 2 Nano SIM Cards or 1 Nano SIM Card and an eSIM.

The back reveals a recessed camera module. It looked quite elegant and was integrated well into the phone’s design. While I can still detect some of my fingerprints, it wasn’t too obvious compared to the other phones I’ve tested before.

Colors available for the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G are Black, Titanium, and Mist Purple. Personally I like Titanium but the Black unit I received wasn’t bad at all.

The Display and Sound

The REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G’s display is a 6.83″ FHD 1280 x 2772 pixels AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. Like its body, the phone’s display is also durable thanks to its Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

I love AMOLED and I am so grateful that Xiaomi has chosen this type of display even though it is a mid-range phone. It delivers vibrant colors, superb contrast and deep blacks. During our trip to Cebu, the display remained viewable under the bright skies of the Queen City of the South.

The speakers provide a solid sound experience thanks to its dual speakers located on top and bottom of the phone. I maxed out the volume and was pleased not to hear any distortion, which sometimes plague other phones at this level.

The Performance

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

Powering the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G is a 2.6 GHz MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra Octa-Core Processor paired with a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. The Dimensity 7400 Ultra was designed by MediaTek based on the Dimensity 7300X specifically for this phone model.

I did some benchmarks on the REDMI to have an idea what its processor can offer.

Compared to the other phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen3 with the same storage and memory configurations, the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G beats them all. But what about their actual usage?

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

I used the Note 15 Pro 5G as my main phone for two weeks doing the usual stuff I do on a daily basis. Phone calls were clear, multi-tasking work and personal emails along with messaging, web browsing and social media apps were seamless. For this period, I didn’t encounter any lags. I know my phone only has 8GB of RAM but it was sufficient for these tasks. Storage is 256GB which is somehow acceptable in this price range.

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

As expected especially with this type of processor, casual games ran smoothly even with its graphics settings maxed out. For more graphic demanding titles, games defaulted to lower graphics settings were able to play smoothly. However, pushing the graphics higher can cause occasional stutters. Overall, performance of these games remain playable.

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

The REDMI Note’s Operating System is Xiaomi HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. It comes with AI features such as AI Erase Pro, AI Beautify, AI Film Camera, and AI Image Expansion among others. Google Gemini is integrated with the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G which can be accessed by pressing the power button or home button for a few seconds.

According to Xiaomi, the REDMI Note will receive 3 years of OS updates.

The Durability

Let me discuss the durability of the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G. During our trip to Cebu, the folks at Xiaomi demonstrated the toughness of the REDMI Note 15 Series 5G. The first test I watched was the water temperature tests where the phone was submerged in hot and cold water. If I weren’t told that REDMI Note 15 series is all about toughness, I would’ve been worried about its survival. Thankfully, it passed the temperature tests. This is because the Note 15 Pro 5G has a rating of IP68 which can withstand hot and cold waters while being submerged.

The second test was the drop test. The phone was dropped 2.5 meters with the REDMI’s screen facing the flood. Did it survive? Of course it did, thanks to its Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

Another test involves a pellet gun and a huge container with water. The person holding the gun needs to shoot the REDMI Note 15 phone which will cause it to drop into the bottom of the container with water.

The last test I did myself was the Pendulum Test. It involves striking the phone with the pendulum to show its mightiest resistance upon impact.

Check out this TikTok video below to view the pendulum test:

Overall the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G is one heck of a tough phone! With IP ratings of IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K for dust and water resistance, withstand high-pressure and high-temperature water jets and water submersion up to 2 meters.

The Cameras

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

I initially thought the cameras of the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G comes with a triple camera system. After a few days of using the phone, I realized it has only two cameras. The first camera is a 200 Megapixel f/1.7 23mm with a 1/1.4″ sensor and Optical Image Stabilization. The second camera is an 8 Megapixel f/2.2 ultrawide.

Here are some of the photos taken with my REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G:

The Main Camera of the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G produces natural colors and sharp details. All the photos taken outdoors during daylight all looked great.

I noticed photos taken on Portrait Mode often struggled with edge detection, resulting in jagged outlines and masking errors around complex areas like the hair of the subject. You could only see this when zoomed in on top of the subject’s head. However, it isn’t noticeable when you look at the whole photo.

I think the Low-light performance of the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G’s camera is quite good. Not as good as photos taken during daylight like what I’ve mentioned above, but still acceptable. The HDR effectively balances the dynamic range, preserving detail in the deepest shadows without overexposing highlights.

The front camera is a 20 MP f/2.2 wide lens. It delivers accurate color reproduction and surprisingly precise subject-background separation.

The Battery Life

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

Looks like smartphone brands are veering away from 5,000 mAh to a much higher battery capacity. The REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G is one of those brands carrying a capacity of 6580 mAh, a big jump from the previous model’s 5,110 mAh. The type of battery was also upgraded to a newer Silicon-Carbon Lithium-Ion which offers higher energy capacity and designed for faster charging.

We did a PCMark Battery Test and the results show 15 hours and 44 minutes of runtime. In my actual usage, I averaged 1.5 days. On not so busy days of using the phone, it could go more than 2 days.

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

Its massive battery can let you use the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G as a powerbank via reverse wired charging. You can not only charge your other smartphone, but also other devices like earbuds or other small gadgets you bring everyday.

The package comes with a 45W charger. Certainly not the fastest, but it can give you ample amount of battery life after at least almost 30 minutes of charging.

DR’s Conclusion

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

My experience with the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G was enjoyable. I liked its slim form-factor even if doesn’t have the curved edges of its other REDMI Note 15 siblings. I appreciated its bright, crisp display and loud sound quality. Its performance is surprisingly better compared to most of its competitors in its class, and its cameras are good enough to be used on a daily basis especially for traveling. Oh, I almost forgot, its long battery life lasts longer than all 9 Star Wars movies combined!

REDMI Note 15 Pro

The most notable feature is its Titan Tough Durability. I have witnessed all the tests done and we also did some of those tests with our own phones. While Xiaomi is very confident about the toughness of its REDMI Note 15 Series 5G lineup, they’re offering an All Around Protection Coverage for the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G and Note 15 Pro+ 5G to let customers enjoy long-term assurance and confidence in their new device.

Purchasing one of these phones entitles the buyer to have this protection coverage which includes 4-year battery warranty, 2-year liquid damage warranty, Front and Back Covery Protection for 2 years, and a FREE replacement within a 2-year warranty period. This protection coverage has a total value of P19,008.00! If this already convinces you to buy one, better hurry because this FREE offer is only up to February 28, 2026.

REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G

In a nutshell, the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G is a value-for-money mid-range phone that has almost everything you need. I would recommend this phone for users who would normally get drunk and let their phones get spilled with whatever they’re drinking that night, clumsy people who drop their phones all the time, or anyone who is always filled with rage who has the worst tantrums and wants to throw something anywhere. The REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G could probably still survive until that person’s rage subsides multiple times a year.
