THE UNBOXING: REALME 5I FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Realme 5i First Impressions

The packaging of the Realme 5i is now colored yellow with a 5i printed at the center. Kinda reminds me of Xiaomi’s style of packaging. Inside the box are the Realme 5i smartphone, USB Cable, USB Charger, Silicon Case and SIM Card Ejector. No earphones included as usual, but you can purchase the brand’s new Realme Buds Air.

The body of the Realme 5i is based on its predecessor, the Realme 5. Size is still the same, as well as the placements of the buttons, ports, speakers and cameras.

The obvious change in the new phone is its appearance. While I like the subtle prism pattern of the Realme 5’s back cover, its slippery to hold and prone to smudges and scratches. Thanks to Realme, they addressed this issue in the 5i by introducing the Sunrise Design. Its shell is now mirror-polished, making the phone resistant to fingerprints and accidental slips. True enough, I don’t see any smudges even after a few days of usage. The phone doesn’t slip off my table, or from my hands. The Sunrise Design is a good improvement. Another improvement is integrating a water-proof design, providing three splash-resistant layers inside the phone and out.

Since there are no changes in its physical form, the Realme 5i still has the same screen size at 6.5-inches.

Games can definitely be played on the 5i but based on my experience with the Realme 5, other games’s graphics settings have to be toned to be playable. So far, NBA2K20 with all video settings set to high played well on the device. I reckon I would get the same results with Call of Duty Mobile also with the highest settings. I will test the other games and check which among them would stutter by next week.

The Quad-Camera system, the top feature of the Realme 5 was also applied on the Realme 5i. Comparing the camera specs, I’ve noticed there weren’t any changes either in this department. Here are some sample photos taken with the 5i:

We’ll be posting our full review next week, so stay tuned for that.
