Globe Teams Up with DOST for COVID- 19 Tracing via TanodCOVID

Globe partners with DOST to assist in battling COVID- 19! Globe through Globe Labs and DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) are now eyeing TanodCOVID, an online platform for reporting and tracing COVID- 19 patients.

For other countries like Vietnam, contact tracing has been amazingly effective in bending the curve. Therefore, DOST-PCHRD plans to adopt this same response and has funded research centers into developing TanodCOVID. The facilities who cooperated and helped are the following: Ateneo Center for Computing Competency and Research (ACCCRe) of Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines Manila – National Telehealth Center (UP-NTHC) and the DOH-Epidemiology Bureau.

TanodCOVID is an SMS self-reporting platform, with its help can improve and streamline how our country tracks patients. It’s also linked to the Feasibility Analysis of Syndromic Surveillance using Spatio-Temporal Epidemiological Modeler (FASSSTER). FASSSTER is basically a web-based tracking and disease modeling platform for COVID- 19 which collects data.

It’s a streamlined process that lets the community itself contribute to data gathering. Residents with symptoms can contact their local health officials by texting their LGU’s verified number. The LGU will then verify such reports, ask residents for additional information, and inform them of the steps they should take after. Once collected, TanodCOVID functions to detect whether a specific area has an outbreak due to report clusters.

Globe is stepping up in shouldering fees for LGU partners and their constituents access to TanodCOVID. As such, Globe hopes for real-time reporting with TanodCOVID to be maximized to its full effectiveness. TanodCOVID gathers data on location as well as specific symptoms of suspected COVID-19 patients.

TanodCOVID for now is available on these areas;

  • Malabon City and Mandaluyong City in Luzon
  • The municipality of Maigo in Lanao del Norte
  • Municipalities of Puerto Galera and Bongabong in Oriental Mindoro
  • Municipality of San Jose in Romblon
  • Municipality of Jabonga in Agusan del Norte
  • Valencia City in Bukidnon
