Huawei To Do the Next Nexus Device?

Google hasn’t mentioned anything. Neither has Huawei. But the Director of China Research at iSuppli Kevin Yang has gotten everybody speculating with a Weibo post confirming that the two are indeed partnering for the next iteration of the Nexus.

Although it may be hard to connect both brands for some, the deal would actually make a lot of sense: Google has long been wanting to tap the Chinese market, while Huawei has the capabilities to create a cheap and powerful phone that could go head-to-head with what the rising star Xiaomi has been manufacturing. It could very well be an interesting match, and as Google has been wanting to make technology even more accessible to a lot of people (see Android One), outing a new Nexus with great specs that’s way cheaper than the Nexus 6 is a good idea.

For now, Google and Huawei has remained mum on the subject. We’ll probably see in a few months where this rumor will lead.

  1. I think that would be a great idea: a great phone that can doesn’t come with a heavy price tag. I just hope they make it available here in the Philippines.
