First Look: realme Pad Mini First Impressions

realme expanded their product portfolio last year by launching their first tablet, the realme Pad. We enjoy using the tablet up to this day, using it for watching streaming videos, reading ebooks or playing mobile games. We were wondering if there would be a smaller version of this 10-inch tablet.

THE UNBOXING

The packaging of the realme Pad Mini is similar to the realme Pad and the realme Book. Unlike their smartphone counterparts, it doesn’t have any branding on the cover of the box.

Inside the box are the realme Pad Mini, Type-C USB Cable, 18W Charger head, SIM Card ejector and user manual.

REALME PAD MINI FIRST IMPRESSIONS

realme Pad Mini

It’s been years since I’ve last held a tablet this small. It actually brought me back memories of the early days of the tablet when they had smaller 7-inch screens. Those days are gone as tablets nowadays usually have at least 10-inch displays. I used to prefer bigger tablets but looks like the smaller size of the realme Pad Mini is going to become my preference now. At 372 grams, it’s easier to carry and slip inside my bag.

The tablet is 7.6mm thin, even slimmer than my realme 9 Pro+! The power button and volume rocker are found on the right side of the Pad Mini, while the SIM Card tray is located on the other side.

At the bottom are the microphone, Type-C USB port and the other speaker grille. So glad to know that the realme Pad Mini comes with stereo speakers. Have to find out though if they are loud and clear during my review.

Like the realme Pad, the Pad Mini also adopts an Aluminum Alloy Body Design resulting in a premium quality and a first-class hand-feel. I couldn’t believe a tablet this affordable can make you feel owning a high-end device. There is an 8 Megapixel camera for those moments that needs to be captured immediately without pulling your smartphone.

Screen size of the realme Pad Mini is at 8.7″ with a resolution of 800 x 1340. There is a 5 Megapixel camera on top for video calls or selfies. Under its hood is a Unisoc T616 Octa-Core processor. I couldn’t remember the last time I reviewed a mobile device with this kind of processor, so it would be interesting to know how it will perform during my evaluation period. There are two variants available: 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB. It’s also expandable up to 1TB with a Micro SD Card.

realme Pad Mini

I like the realme Pad Mini so far, but I will be doing some more tests this weekend. I will be posting my full review on April 4, so stay tuned for that.

Meanwhile, I’m inviting everyone to tune in to the livestream launch of the realme Pad Mini on April 4, 6PM, on the realme Philippines Facebook page and YouTube channel.
