The Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e: Which One Fits You?

In the history of the Galaxy S series, Samsung has offered some form of choice to its customers. Do you find the Galaxy S4 too big? The smaller Galaxy S4 mini was available. Wanted a more rugged Galaxy S5? Samsung spawned the Galaxy S5 Active, which was IP67 and MIL-STD-810F compliant.

Maintaining its position as an industry leader, Samsung is in a strong position such that it can offer not one, but three flagships (four if you count the next Galaxy Note) this year. There should be a Galaxy S10 that fits anyone who wants one.

Next up is the Galaxy S10+, which is basically the Galaxy S10 but beefed-up. You’ll obviously have to shell out more money for this one, but the bumped up specs may well just be worth it.

Starting with the battery, the Galaxy S10+ has around 17% more battery capacity at 4,100 mAh versus the Galaxy S10’s 3,400 mAh battery. With the display only being a small fraction bigger on the Galaxy S10+, this should result in better overall battery life.

Where the Galaxy S10+ really impresses is in storage capacity. For those wanting and/or needing it, the top-of-the-line variant comes with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, further expandable up to 512GB via microSD. That totals to 1.5TB of storage, on a smartphone! In Samsung’s terms, that’s about 768,000 images you can take with the equally impressive cameras.

For the selfie-holics out there, the Galaxy S10+ also has an 8 MP depth sensor to accompany the 4K-capable 10 MP camera at the front. This tremendously helps with the Live Focus effect which, if you’re a fan of the bokeh effect, will certainly impress you.

Samsung Galaxy S10

A new move for Samsung was to introduce a more affordable flagship option in the form of the Galaxy S10e. This is for those who find some of the more extravagant features of the Galaxy S10 and S10+ to be unnecessary.

If you’re unwilling to pay extra for a curved screen, an on-display fingerprint sensor, an extra telephoto lens, and a few hundred mAh, then the Galaxy S10e is a more practical choice.

You still get a near bezel-less Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED display, the excellent 12 MP dual-aperture and 16 MP ultra-wide angle cameras, in addition to the 4K-capable 10 MP front camera. It even retains the fast wireless charging support, as well as Wireless PowerShare. As for the battery, it’s still bigger than what’s found in the Galaxy S9 it replaces, and has a more efficient SoC. As a result, you can still expect excellent battery life.

Whichever among the Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e variants you choose, you’re still getting a top-notch flagship phone. Whether it’s the versatile Galaxy S10, the uber-spec’ed Galaxy S10+, or the pragmatic Galaxy S10e, there’s a Samsung Galaxy S10 for you.
