EPSON is Going Green with New Upcycling Initiatives!

EPSON is taking steps towards a greener future through upcycling initiatives like workshops, seminars, and contests. EPSON is educating not only their employees but also Filipino children on how to upcycle used products.

Waste pollution is very destructive ecologically and economically especially to a developing country like the Philippines. Around 9,212 tons of waste in Metro Manila alone damage our bodies of water.

In that regard, EPSON realizes that this problem is a burden we all carry. Therefore, EPSON is promoting “upcycling” which recycles waste by making it a better product.

Starting with seminars, EPSON invited upcycling facilitator Annaliza Dela Cruz to teach kids and teachers of the Alay Pag-asa Christian Foundation, Inc., NGO, on how to upcycle old denim jeans in colorful bookmarks last November. EPSON also donated art materials and other to the foundation for Christmas.

In green initiatives, where better to start than at home? Apart from that EPSON also renewed their partnership with the Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) for a seminar for their employees. A long term initiative to encourage employees to upcycle in and out the office.

As an example, EPSON colleagues guided by Upcycle Philippines founder, Adavieve Mella upcycle used plastic bottles and other office waste materials by transforming them into desk organizers, ornaments, pencil cases, and coin purses. A fun activity while understanding something valuable.

EPSON Philippines and DENR-EMB also launched the 2nd EcoVision
Film Competition (Documentary Edition) with the theme, ‘Upcycling Heroes,’ that should feature Philippine organizations or people that had make huge steps in promoting upcycling.

These projects show EPSON’s unwavering aim to help curve pollution. Let’s show our support to EPSON by learning a thing or two from them! Learn more by visiting their Official Website or their Facebook page.
