First Look: Unboxing the Cherry Mobile Apollo

CMApolloFL01

Aside from the Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0, I was also loaned a unit of the Cherry Mobile Apollo. I guess they have forgiven me for posting the leaked photos which I took during the Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0 event. 🙂

Here’s a quick rundown on the specs:

OS: Android 4.2 (Jellybean)
Processor: 1.2 GHz MTK MT6589 Quad-Core processor
Display: 4.5” HD IPS Display
Wireless Connections: 3G/HSDPA, WiFi , Bluetooth 4., WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS
Memory: 4GB Internal Storage, MicroSD up to 32GB, 1GB RAM
Camera: 12.0 Megapixels with BSI and Dual-LED flash (Main), 5.0 Megapixels with BSI (Secondary)
Battery: 1,800 mAh

THE UNBOXING

CMApolloFL02

Nothing much to see after unboxing the Apollo, just the usual battery, headphones, USB cable and charger head. The headphones supplied are the in-ear type which adds more to the already great value of the smartphone.

CMApolloFL03

Nice screen cover which reminds the new owner of the Apollo’s specs. I was told that we will see more of these on new high-end smartphones and other feature phones.

CMApolloFL04

This is the Apollo’s 12 Megapixel camera with BSI sensor. BSI means Back Side-Illuminated Sensor and it allows more light to be collected, improving photos during low-light conditions.

Here are a few more pics of the Apollo:

I took a photo with the Apollo and my first impression with its camera – it’s the real deal! This might be a good companion to take photos while I’m on the go.

I will be posting a review of this soon, probably after I’m done with the Flare 2.0. Meanwhile, follow me on Twitter @dronthego and on Instagram (reggieramos) where I will post some photos using the Apollo.

I’m looking for a possible android phone that’s not heavy on the budget and I’m torn between CM Apollo and CM Omega HD 2.0. Can someone please help me decide?
