HONOR Magic5 Pro Unboxing

The HONOR Magic5 Pro comes in a minimalistic black box, making it truly a flagship smartphone and distinguishing it from their other models. As we opened the box, we found the device itself, a clear silicone case, a SIM ejector pin, a charging brick, and a USB Type-C to Type-A charging cable. However, we did not receive any documentation for the smartphone.

The First Impressions

When you have the initial hold of the phone, you’ll notice the grainy texture of its back, which gives it a unique feel. The grainy back panel doesn’t attract fingerprints, setting it apart from typical matte back panels found in other flagship smartphones. Additionally, the large camera module with a prominent circle in the center is a signature characteristic of HONOR smartphones, making it visually striking.

The Magic5 Pro features a triple rear camera setup, with the main, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras boasting 50 megapixels each. Additionally, it is equipped with an 8×8 dTOF Laser Focusing System, which utilizes real-time depth information detection to deliver faster and more accurate focus.

At its front, the HONOR Magic5 Pro features a quad-curved floating screen. It boasts a 6.81-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2848 x 1312 pixels. While some individuals may find the display too large for their hands, watching online content or playing games on the HONOR Magic5 Pro provides a delightful experience.

HONOR Magic5 Pro Display

The display of the HONOR Magic5 Pro boasts slim bezels, resulting in an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 92.33%. It is further enhanced with HDR10+ and IMAX Enhanced certifications, making it really an ideal for immersive content consumption. Additionally, the LTPO feature allows the display to switch to 1Hz when the higher 120Hz refresh rate is not required, thereby reducing battery consumption.

The front camera of the HONOR Magic5 Pro features a pill cutout on the upper left side of the display, housing a 12-megapixel camera along with a 3D Depth Camera. In our initial experience with both the rear and front cameras, we found them to be highly impressive, capturing images with sharp details and vibrant colors.

Here are some sample pictures of the camera.

Going for the internal specs, it has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset that is paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage option. The HONOR Magic5 Pro features also a 5100mAh battery which is an upgrade from 4600mAh from the previous generation. But, unfortunately, the charging speed is slightly lowered with only 66W wired and 50W wireless compared to 100W for both wired and wireless.

HONOR Magic5 Pro Overall

So far, our initial experience with the HONOR Magic5 Pro has been impressive and elegant. The device feels great to handle, although it does have a noticeable weight of it. However, after some time, you will get used to the heft. Moving on to the display, it is stunning and bright, providing a visually appealing experience. The performance of the device is exceptional, effortlessly handling various tasks and games we threw at it, without any lag or slowdown.

We are excited to share our comprehensive review of the HONOR Magic5 Pro once we have the unit again. The official launch of the HONOR Magic5 Pro is scheduled for June 8, 2023. Stay tuned on our website and follow us on our official social media accounts for the updates and the latest news.
