HUAWEI P60 Pro First Impressions: Taking back the Smartphone Camera King Title

HUAWEI hasn’t launched a flagship camera phone since the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket last 2021. There were doubts if they will ever launch a smartphone again with excellent imaging capabilities, now that they have severed their partnership with Leica. But life goes on for HUAWEI, as they are about to not only launch their newest flagship, they might take back their throne as the Smartphone Camera King. The HUAWEI P60 Pro is expected to set new standards in mobile technology with its advanced features and capabilities.

We had a hands-on session with the HUAWEI P60 Pro over the weekend and took it for a spin, taking pictures of anything we could shoot with its cameras. Now that the phone is officially launched in the Philippines, let us share with you our first impressions of this smartphone.

HUAWEI P60 Pro First Impressions

Huawei P60 Pro 2

Let’s start with the hardware. I was a big fan of the HUAWEI P40 Pro‘s aesthetics. It had a quad-curved screen with a back panel made of frosted glass. It was the most gorgeous flagship I held at that time. With these in mind, I have high expectations for the HUAWEI P60 Pro and it didn’t disappoint at all.

Huawei P60 Pro 3

Everything about it looks stunning. The new HUAWEI P60 Pro is equally extraordinary, if not more. The black color variant comes with an Anti-Fingerprint Feather-Sand Glass which feels quite soft, but at the same time shines bright like diamonds.

Huawei P60 Pro 4

While the Black looks elegant and suited for black-tie events, the P60 Pro in Rococo Pearl was inspired by the elaborate Rococo style that prevailed in the 18th century. The pearl design exudes a timeless changing-color like an opal. Personally, if I were to make a pick, I would choose the Rococo Pearl for its uniqueness and elegance.

Huawei P60 Pro 5

The P60 Pro’s screen is a 6.67″ OLED display with a resolution of 1220 x 2700. It also has a quad-curved design which I really liked with my P40 Pro. The big improvement in the screen is its durability thanks to its Kunlun Glass tech, which received five-star glass drop-resistance certification from Switzerland’s SGS. We dropped the P60 Pro several times to the ground and we didn’t find any scratches on the screen at all.

Surprisingly, the P60 Pro provided a smooth grip and doesn’t slip of easily. It definitely feels solid and premium.

Huawei P60 Pro 6

The HUAWEI P60 Pro comes with a triple-camera system. It comes with a 48 Megapixels XMAGE main camera, a 48 Megapixels Telephoto, and a 13 Megapixels ultra-wide. The main camera has an impressive f/1.4 aperture and RYYB which produces rich and sharp images. The telephoto lens also has a large aperture at f/2.1, which takes in more light while zoomed in.
