Samsung announced earlier new devices at the IFA event in Berlin. It was already expected that the new Galaxy Note 4 would be announced, but Samsung surprised everyone when they also announced the Galaxy Note Edge!
The new Galaxy Notes are sporting new designs based on a premium metal frame with curves that blends with the phablet’s display. The difference between the 2 is the Note Edge uses the curved screen technology where notifications will be shown. This would be beneficial to some users who are using the Note Edge on full screen mode while still being able to view their notifications. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Note Edge is a special edition device and will not be available to all markets.
The improvements on the Galaxy Note 4 includes a bigger screen size at 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) with Super AMOLED Display, a 2.7 GHz Quad-Core processor (other countries would get another variant with a 1.9 GHz Octa-Core processor), enhancements on the UI, refined S-Pen and S Note experience, better camera specs and lower power consumption.
WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE GALAXY NOTE 4
I was able to hold a prototype and it feels pretty solid compared to the Galaxy Note 3. Having reviewed a Note 3 before, I think the refined S Pen experience as a good improvement that many Note users would benefit from. The new multi-window is not just divided between 2 areas of the screen: it can now be adjusted according to your preference, whether you want a browser to be placed on the lower left corner and add Facebook on the upper center portion of the screen. Notes can be made like post-it notes and they can easily be found whenever you make a search. Users who love taking selfies can use the 3.7 Megapixel front camera’s Wide Selfie feature which is good to take group shots.
It was mentioned before the start of the Livestream that the Philippines has around 200,000 users of the Galaxy Note, which is considered a big consumer base. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 may gain more interest when it reaches our shore next month and I think with its new improvements, it may be able to convert none-Note owners to buy one.
