In the first half of 2020, OPPO has announced the Find X2 Pro and Reno3 series in the Philippine smartphone market. OPPO A92 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

OPPO A92

It seems that OPPO has graduated from the teardrop notch to having a punch-hole camera display. We’ve seen this first in the OPPO Reno3 series and now they’ve applied it in the A92 as well. I prefer having a punch-hole camera display because it looks modern, unlike the teardrop notch which is so 2018. This is the closest thing you can have for having a full screen display. Oh, and by the way, the front camera is 16 Megapixels and I’ll show a couple of selfies in a little while.

Found on the left side of the phone are the volume controls and the SIM Card slots. The A92 can accommodate two Nano SIM Cards and a MicroSD card, unlike other phones where they sacrifice the 2nd SIM card for storage expansion.

On the right side is the power button which also acts as a fingerprint scanner. We’ve seen this fingerprint positioning in other brands and I guess OPPO decided to do the same thing instead of its usual placement at the back. Lefties can still unlock their fingerprints while holding the phone by using their pointing or middle finger.

At the bottom are the 3.5mm headphone jack, Type-C USB port and speaker grille.

The back houses four cameras and a LED flash arranged in a rectangular shape, which is en vogue in today’s smartphones.

The A92 is targeted for the youth market so they’re available in fashionable colours: Aurora Purple, Shining White and Twilight Black. I got Twilight Black as my review unit and even it’s not as colourful as the other two, it shows its brilliance with its shining rays coming out from the cameras.

OPPO A92

The phone is comfortable to hold thanks to its 3D curved body. No sharp edges in its corners. Size and weight is just about right.

OPPO A92

Like its predecessor, the A9 2020, the A92 also comes with a quad-camera system composed of a 48 Megapixels main camera, 8 Megapixels telephoto, 2 Megapixels depth and 2 Megapixels black/white. The main camera defaults to 12 Megapixels and I had to access the camera’s menu to select 48 Megapixels. I only had this phone for a couple of days so I’m going to share some sample photos I took:

I won’t give my verdicts yet since these are just my first impressions. Besides, I haven’t touched on the other features of the phone yet, like its Snapdragon 665 processor and the other camera features like its periscope and night mode. I’ll be tackling these as well as my unboxing of the OPPO A92 in my full review which will be posted in the next few days.

Stay tuned to OPPO Philippines Facebook page for more updates about the OPPO A92.
