A Thinner and Much Lighter New Design
The new MacBook Pro is thinner and significantly lighter for even better portability. The 14-inch MacBook Pro now weighs half a pound less at 3 pounds, while the 16-inch MacBook Pro weighs just 4 pounds — 0.7 pounds lighter than before.3 Both models feature a slimmer design enabled by OLED’s more efficient display stack, with the 16-inch model nearly a millimeter thinner and the 14-inch model half a millimeter thinner.

PROLED XDR

The new MacBook Pro comes with the new PROLED XDR display, which uses tandem OLED technology and advances it with innovations in every layer, advanced algorithms in the display engine, and a state-of-the-art factory calibration process to deliver Extreme Dynamic Range (XDR) and stunning visual fidelity. With exceptional brightness, striking contrast, and vivid true-to-life colors, PROLED XDR offers the ultimate front-of-screen performance, enabling a new level of visual acuity and precision for content creators, photographers, colorists, and designers who need a reference-caliber display on the go.
The PROLED XDR delivers true-to-life color and unparalleled brightness and contrast. The PROLED XDR display offers tandem OLED technology unlike any other, with deep innovations in its layers that keep brightness and grayscale uniform across the entire display, while minimizing internal reflections common in traditional OLED designs.
The PROLED XDR offers up to 2000 nits peak HDR and SDR brightness, allowing specular highlights to shine with stunning intensity. And through optimizations in the tandem OLED panel and custom compensation techniques, combined with precise control of light across the display, the PROLED XDR display achieves an industry-leading 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, so even the deepest shadows reveal incredible detail, bringing HDR content remarkably close to reality.
The display engine precisely controls the color and luminance of every pixel at the sub-millisecond level, compensating for content, pixel use, temperature, and environment all at once to offer exceptional brightness uniformity and grayscale accuracy, even in fast-motion content. It also monitors and adapts each pixel’s usage over time to preserve stunning image quality. And ProMotion technology delivers adaptive refresh rates from as low as 10Hz for better power efficiency and up to 120Hz for fluid responsiveness for content in motion.
The Ultimate Display for Color-Critical Workflows

The PROLED XDR offers pros a super-wide color gamut with P3 and now Adobe RGB — critical for workflows in photography and design — along with notably wider coverage in green and cyan ranges. This results in more than 80 percent Rec. 2020 coverage for HDR video editing and color grading. Cutting-edge factory calibration ensures luminance, white point, and color gamut are precisely aligned with standard targets. Both color spaces are accessible within a single default preset, streamlining pro workflows and making it seamless to switch between them. With the new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, pros have a portable reference display on the go.
With up to 2000 nits peak SDR brightness, combined with a state-of-the-art antireflective coating, the display is easy to read even in bright lighting conditions. For even greater visibility, the nano-texture option — now precisely etched into the cover glass — further reduces reflections and glare to eliminate distractions while maintaining an excellent viewing experience.
Touch Display on a Mac

The MacBook Pro features Touch for the first time, bringing pros a whole new way to interact with their content. Everyday tasks are simple and intuitive, allowing users to scroll through a webpage with a natural swipe; pinch to zoom in on a photo; drag and drop slides from one presentation to another; and double-tap a window to fill the screen, or flick to tile it into place. And the touch sensor is built directly into the display panel — not layered on top of it — reducing latency so users feel like they’re touching the content itself.
Touch also introduces entirely new ways of working for pro users. Graphic designers can now use the entire display as their canvas, no longer constrained by the area of the trackpad when drawing; musicians can play software instruments right onscreen; and app developers can test how Touch performs in their iOS and iPadOS apps directly on the MacBook Pro display. And these new ways to interact with MacBook Pro work in tandem with the keyboard shortcuts and trackpad gestures pros know and love. In addition, a newly designed hinge provides greater stability while using Touch, and advanced video stabilization automatically smooths the camera feed in real time while using Touch on a video call.
M5 Pro and M5 Max: Game‑Changing Pro Performance and On-Device AI

The new MacBook Pro features M5 Pro and M5 Max, Apple’s most powerful chips ever built for a pro laptop. Both deliver phenomenal single- and multithreaded CPU performance, along with faster unified memory, giving users blazing speed for the most demanding workflows. The M5 Pro offers game-changing performance for scientists, engineers, software developers, and creative pros tackling intensive projects, accelerating everything from compiling code and running AI tasks to sequencing DNA and editing multiple streams of 8K ProRes video. On the other hand, the M5 Max is built for users who want to push the limits even further, including 3D VFX artists, AI developers, and film composers. With M5 Max, pros can run LLMs with hundreds of billions of parameters entirely on device and accelerate intense workflows across detailed visual effects, 3D animation projects, film scores, and 8K video post-production.
