What’s in the Box?

We will be greeted initially with their signature yellow box that has its model name printed on its top and the brand name on its sides. Upon opening the box, we will find the realme C55 unit itself, a user manual, its SIM ejector pin, a 33W charger, its USB Type-A to Type-C cable, and a transparent silicone case.

Its Appearance

Upon our first encounter with the realme C55, at its price range, it’s clear that the phone’s design is impressive and catches the eye from the very first glance. Indeed one of its standout features is the dual-tone finish on the back panel, which gives it a premium appearance, along with a glossy accent that surrounds the camera. It is also packed with a slim design which is 7.89mm thinner compared to its previous predecessors like the realme C35.

One thing that really got my attention upon looking at the realme C55’s design is its flat edges. The style of its edges gives an easy grip for those who have struggled with maintaining a hold on objects and devices like me. I personally enjoy this style as it provides a more comfortable hold.

We received the Rainy Night color variant of the realme C55 review unit, boasting a matte finish that prevents fingerprints and smudges. For those who prefer bright colors on their smartphones, the Rainforest and Sunshower color options are also available. This would match perfectly your daily OOTD’s. With this Modern aesthetic design, definitely it sure wins its claim of being the “Stylish Champion”.

Its Display and Speaker

The realme C-Series smartphones have always been known for their large displays. The realme C55 takes this to a whole new level with a larger 6.7-inch 90Hz FHD IPS Display. This happens to be the largest screen ever seen on a realme C-Series smartphone, complete with an improved FHD+ resolution.

The enhanced display is not only bigger but also easier on the eyes, thanks to a screen-to-body ratio of 91.4% and a 90Hz refresh rate. This means that scrolling and browsing through content will be smoother than ever before, without causing any strain or discomfort to your eyes.

Its speaker grille is located on the bottom part of the realme C55. it comes with a mono speaker that is just fine which has decent clarity and not that much bass. There are times that the speaker becomes loud enough in some scenarios as it has an Ultra Volume Mode which suggest you can disable as there are cracking sounds heard at higher volume levels.

Its Performance

The realme C55 features MediaTek Helio G88 with realme UI 4.0, Android 13. While the chipset does not perform any better than those found in other devices, it also doesn’t fall behind. In short, the realme C55’s performance is on par with its competitors, thanks to the Helio G88. It can handle almost every thrown task with ease with a smooth user experience despite a few instances of lag and stuttering as this device is not meant for heavy-duty tasks. You can play high-demanding games on low-graphics settings but will experience occasional stuttering. Low-demanding games such as Marvel Snap and Mobile Legends are playable.

One thing that caught my attention and was really interesting for me is its storage capacity. Sky is the limit as our unit offers 8GB of RAM with 256GG of internal storage. It also has 6GB RAM with 128GB of storage option. Take note that you can also expand your storage up to 1TB or 1000GB which you can also utilize from its dedicated micro-SD card slot. This is actually a really good catch for someone like me who installs a lot of apps on my phone that I use at work in addition to the mobile games that I play.

Here are the benchmark results of the realme C55

In terms of security, the realme C55 features fingerprint and face unlock. Its fingerprint scanner is located on the power button. It also has a face unlock feature that works well and is a convenient option. Other than these are its conventional pin and password unlock option.

Mini Capsule Features

As we have said in our first impressions, we will discuss this newest innovation that realme had included on their newest in the C-series – their latest Mini Capsule feature. The Mini Capsule is created to show detailed information on such functions as Its charging and battery status, your mobile data usage, and even when you track and monitor your step counts.

It gives you notifications on the power percentage as you plug in the charging cables, your remaining available time when you are already fully charged, and even the battery percentage that you have when it comes to low power.

Also amazing enough to see how it makes you notified of your daily limit on your data usage when it reaches 90%. Therefore, your remaining available data for the day is monitored.

Such an amazing feature of this Mini Capture is its tracking capability for your step count. It gives you visual information on your steps and distance for the day.

The Camera

As someone who takes pictures frequently both at home and work, having a high-quality camera phone is a top priority for me when looking for a new device. I was really impressed with the camera experience of the phone at being on an entry-level range, as it features a 64-megapixel main rear camera and a 2-megapixel depth camera. While it was disappointing to see that the phone still does not include an ultrawide camera feature, the 64-megapixel camera is a significant improvement compared to its predecessors which only had 50 megapixels.

Upon taking pictures with its rear camera, it is pixel binned to 16.04 megapixels.

Being an improved version of its predecessor, they paired the realme C55 with its Number Series software features and optimizations such as the Street Mode 3.0 and their ProLight Imaging Technology that definitely enhanced the camera quality of the smartphone. The daylight shots are natural looking, sharp, and vibrant but not overexposed. Taking pictures in a lowlight environment also gives natural-looking pictures and brightness can be enhanced in its night mode but somehow is grainy.  For its portrait shots, there are some issues with its subject detection which is evident in its bokeh.

In addition to this, taking selfies is a breeze with the 8-megapixel front-facing camera located in the center of the phone. It produces natural-looking pictures with decent vibrance despite some chances of blown-out backgrounds.

Here are the sample pictures:

The realme C55 is able to record videos up to 1080p @ 60fps. Sadly, recorded videos are shaky as they lack video stabilization support. In daylight recording, the videos are decently good. But taking videos in a low-lit environment makes white colors to be blown out and its grainy quality pops out mostly on areas with an artificial light source. Still, for its price range, it produces acceptable videos for your normal content video recording usage

The Battery

Being equipped with an industry-standard large battery at 5000MAh, our C55 can last for a long duration of usage during hours of travel and driving. It is supported with a capacity to sustain a 33W SUPERVOOC Charging capability. On our charging test, the battery was fully charged from 0% to 100% in under an hour and a half. With moderate to heavy daily usage like calling, texting, sending emails, taking pictures, browsing social media, and listening to your favorite music with Realme C55, it can last up to the entire day.

Final Thoughts about the realme C55

The realme C55 is a budget-friendly smartphone that offers a powerful and stylish option for consumers. It’s dual-tone finish and flat edges provide a comfortable and premium grip. Also, the realme C55’s impressive display makes it an ideal choice for those who love to consume content on their smartphones, whether it’s streaming movies and TV shows or browsing social media. It features a 6.7” FHD+ 90Hz display, which is one of the largest ever seen on a realme C-Series smartphone. Its performance is on par with its competitors, thanks to the MediaTek Helio G88 with realme UI 4.0, Android 13. The speaker works just fine and is decent for a smartphone in this price range.

With all the specs and features offered for a budget-friendly smartphone in the market, this for me is a good deal especially for those who look for a modern and stylish smartphone with good camera quality and a storage wise device with a 5000mAh battery life. Indeed realme will not settle for something basic on an entry-level smartphone as they have offered a good deal with their sought-after Stylish Champion.

The realme C55 is priced at Php 10,999.00 for its 8GB+256GB variant and at Php 8,999.00 for its 6GB+128GB. You can buy the newest realme C55 on the official store as it will be available on Lazada and Shopee. There are also first-selling offers and discounts that you can avail on realme’s Official TikTok Shop @realmePH.
