Upon opening the box of the review unit that we received, we will find the HUAWEI nova 11 unit itself, its SIM ejector pin, a 66W charger, its USB Type-A to Type-C cable, and a transparent silicone case.

Its Appearance and Design

One of the key features of the HUAWEI nova 11 is its Super Design. With a classic design with fashionable aesthetics from the nova family, it definitely boasts a stylish and modern look that gives it a premium appearance. Along with its golden Star Orbit Ring, the phone shows a more layered golden color scheme. Its double-layer coating process has brought subtle colors under the sunlight. It features an extraordinary HUAWEI nova Architecture, offering an ultra-flat edge design as it is 6.88 mm and weighs only 168 g.

Having a comfortable grip is essential for every user’s phone experience. With this, the HUAWEI nova 11 is shaped with narrow bezels that are 1.75 mm and 1.98 mm on the upper and lower bezels respectively, together with its 1.59 mm on the left and right bezels that makes its screen-to-body ratio of 93.4 %. This design makes it comfortable to hold and a good catch for someone who is struggling on maintaining a good hold on devices.

We received the Gold color variant of the HUAWEI nova 11 review unit that has a matte finish that prevents fingerprints and smudges. For those who prefer other colors on their smartphones, the Green and Black color options are also available. Along with its trendy aesthetic design, indeed, it surely wins their claim of having its classic yet fashionable style for everyone.

Its Display and Speakers

The HUAWEI nova 11 features a nova HD Large Screen for an Elevated Visual. It also has a Display Turbo, built with FIAA (flexible AMOLED in-cell active array) technology along with its 6.7-inch straight screen that delivers vivid, detailed, and boundless display effects. It comes with a 120 Hz High Refresh Rate, FHD+ 2412 × 1084 pixels resolution, 1,440 Hz High-Frequency, PWM Dimming in addition to its P3 Wide Colour Gamut Display.

Moving forward, it has a loud dual speaker grille that is located on the top and bottom part of the HUAWEI nova 11 which brings good clarity and bass sound for watching content.

Its Performance

The HUAWEI nova 11 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G – 6 nm powered by EMUI, its operating system. The review unit that we have has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Though the device is only limited to 4G of experience compared to the other brands that cater 5G, still it did not fall behind its competitors. It can handle almost every task with ease and with a smooth user experience. You can also play high-demanding games as it comes with nova game engine that has been optimized all the way from SoC resource scheduling, to GPU load reduction, and touchscreen display, which allows the ultimate experience for any heavy gaming actions.

Thanks also to its AI Intelligent Scheduling 3.0 that automatically determines the real-time game scene and adjusts the number of frames accordingly, together with its Touch Turbo 3.0, GPU Turbo 3.0, and Heat dissipation engine. Indeed, this is the ultimate gaming companion as it has features that reduce touch latency by 5%, increase battery life by 10%, and lower temperatures by 1℃, giving the phone a good balance between smooth gameplay and power efficiency.

Here are the benchmark scores of the HUAWEI nova 11:

In terms of security, the nova 11 features a fingerprint on its screen and face unlock. It also has a face unlock function feature that works well and is a convenient option. Other than these are its conventional pin and password unlock options.

Its Camera

Definitely, for camera phone lovers like me, the quality of photos a smartphone can give is one key feature that I will be looking for. The HUAWEI nova 11 did not disappoint me in this matter as its XD Portrait debuts to keep its Portrait Photography Innovation on the lead.

Upon using the nova 11, taking pictures was as impressive as I have thought. You can get stunning photos as its rear camera has 50 MP Ultra Vision Camera and an 8 MP Ultra-Wide Marco Camera with digital zoom up to 10x. Its AI Image Stabilization is a great feature for those who have shaky hands in capturing photos. Taking pictures in different brightness environments, textured scenes, different distances, and attitudes, the quality of the pictures even looks natural, crisp, and outstanding.

Its rear video camera resolution supports up to 3840 × 2160 pixels. It also features different rear camera capturing modes such as Short-Form Video, Follow Focus, Portrait Video, and Story Creator which is a perfect feature for content creators.

Talking about its front camera feature, it has 60 MP Ultra Wide Portrait Camera that supports up to 8960 × 6720 pixels. Take note that the actual image resolution may vary depending on the shooting mode. It also supports a 100-degree ultra-wide angle with a sensor that supports 4K quality, offering you excellent resolution and light sensitivity.

Unfortunately, it could have been better if they have included an Ultra wide camera feature for their rear camera when taking videos as I have only seen it available on its rear camera photo capturing an image, as well as on its photo and video capturing mode on its front camera. Nonetheless, the nova 11 still was able to make up for these with its upgraded Night Shot Photography. With the actual photo we had, using the night mode is indeed amazing. If you happen to take pictures in the low lit environment using normal photo mode, there are chances of some light flares that is seen on the images you took. That is why, it is recommended for you to use the night mode to have excellent details beyond what our eyes can see in dark scenes.

Its Battery

The HUAWEI nova 11 also has its Super Charge key feature. It has a  66 W HUAWEI Super Charge Turbo ability. During our charging test, the nova 11, compared to other smartphones gave us an impressive experience. We charged the device and got 50% for just  18 minutes intervals and 70% in 27 minutes with the screen off. As we charged it from 0% to 100%, it was fully charged at 46 mins. This means that you will not need to worry when you forget to charge your phone at night as it will not be a hassle for you can just quickly charge it in the morning before you leave home. With moderate to heavy daily usage like calling, texting, sending emails, taking pictures, browsing social media, and listening to music, the HUAWEI nova 11 can last up to the entire day with its 4500mAh battery.
