I’m very thankful that I finally got in touch with the people behind DTC Mobile Philippines during their event last night.
From what I know, they don’t usually hold media events, and when I was invited to this event, then it must be something big. True enough, they want to make their presence to the Philippine market by inviting Brand Ambassadors, and they didn’t just invite celebrities. They took an unusual route of tapping PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) Stars to promote their smartphones. Why not? The Philippines is a basketball crazed country and we follow it as much as we follow the latest episodes of The Legal Wife (Ok, I lied, I don’t watch The Legal Wife.) It made sense for DTC to tap these athletes as their Brand Ambassadors.
The All-Star Ambassador roster showcases one player each from five outstanding teams of the PBA: Ryan Arana of Rain or Shine, Simon Atkins of Air 21, Rommel Nino “KG” Canaleta of Talk ‘N Text, Gary “El Granada” David of the Meralco Bolts, and 11-time PBA All-Star Willie Miller of Red Bull.
According to DTC, these 5 basketball all-stars were chosen for their dedication, revolutionary style and powerful performance, the same traits shared by the brand since its founding here in 2011. As five of the most exceptional players in the league, they symbolize active but practical living, which DTC consumers also exemplify.
Ferdinand Buensalida Jr., General Manager for DTC, elaborates on the partnership: “DTC is a brand that capitalizes on a strong commitment to cusomer satisfaction through the power of innovative technology and human ingenuity. We consider our people as one of our best assets.”
DTC also displayed their current line-up during the event. Oh, they revealed during their presentation their Octa-Core smartphone. All we know is, this DTC Octa-Core phone will not be priced for more than Php 10,000.00. That’s gonna be interesting for the market.
