First Look: OPPO F5

OPPO has just launched its latest phone model that does not only offer superb viewing, but also exceptional camera experience. At first, I thought the OPPO F5 is just another new phone that has a large 18:9 screen ratio made popular by the Samsung Galaxy S8. Actually, that’s just one of the new features of the F5, but there’s more to talk about than the screen of this phone. Anyway, here are my first impressions of the OPPO F5.

WIDE FULL SCREEN

OPPO F5

I don’t have the official specs of the OPPO F5 yet, but we were told that its screen is Full HD+ IPS display with a screen ratio of 18:9. Display quality is good, but I found an issue. It seems there is no way to enlarge the videos to maximize the large screen display. YouTube is not supporting it (as of press time) as well as the native video player app of the F5. I’m quite disappointed by this, and I hope OPPO will release an update to fully utilize its full screen mode.

CAMERA

OPPO F5

This is the part where I am excited about. Both the main and front cameras produced impressive results inside the venue with slightly dim lights. Here are some sample photos:

Here are sample shots using the 20 Megapixel front camera:

I am really amazed by the results of the front camera. Images turned out to be more natural, and not the usual oversaturated or underexposed. I think it has something to do with the  A.I. Beauty Recognition Technology feature which is supposed to capture your natural look.
