Yesterday, a new brand made headlines in the smartphone world as they’ve announced the newest flagship killer. Pocophone, a new sub-brand from the original flagship killer Xiaomi made its debut with the Pocophone F1. The reason why this phone is making smartphone users going nuts is having a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor under its hood with a retail price of only P17,990! The Pocophone F1 also comes with LiquidCool Technology cooling system, up to 128GB Internal Storage (supports a MicroSD Card) and up to 6GB of RAM and a huge 4,000 mAh battery.
Since the announcement of the ASUS ZenFone 5z which shook the world last February, other brands like OnePlus and Xiaomi have announced Snapdragon 845-powered phones ranging from P25,000-30,000. The entry of Pocophone F1 will definitely affect the smartphone landscape as they are offering a phone that’s usually worth in the high-end price range.
I am not sure why Xiaomi came up with a sub-brand, but Alvin Tse, Head of POCO Global explains their name and vision: ““POCO stands for ‘a little’—we believe in starting small but dreaming big. The Pocophone F1 has a dual camera consisting of a 12 Megapixel with Sony IMX363 sensor and 5 megapixels. The camera supports AI and comes with infrared illuminator and infrared camera on the front, allowing the AI face unlock feature to securely unlock the device both in pitch-dark conditions as well as in daylight.

The Pocophone F1 will be available in the Philippines at P17,990 for the 64GB/4GB version and P19,990 for the 128GB/6GB version. It will initially be available in Lazada on September 6 and will eventually roll out in Mi Authorized Stores.
