DESIGN – HUAWEI Y MAX REVIEW
The Huawei Y Max has a tiny speaker placed on top that looked like a line. Underneath is the front camera which results to a teardrop-like notch.
The left part of the phone houses the SIM Cards, while the power and volume buttons are found on the right side.
On the bottom of the phone, the headphone jack is placed on the left, the Micro USB port is placed at the center and another speaker is placed at the right.
The back contains a dual camera on the left, and a fingerprint scanner nicely placed on the center.
The Huawei Y Max is fitted with a faux leather back cover, which doubles with both design and functionality. Not only is it pretty, it also does not slip off my hands due to its material, which is great for people who have sweaty hands.
Overall, the phone itself is very sleek, with its rounded corners and thin profile. Due to its size, its not very easy on the hands. It would need some time to get used to holding. The size does remind me of a “phablet” that became en vogue a few years back, just like the Samsung Galaxy Mega.
DISPLAY – HUAWEI Y MAX REVIEW
The Y Max has a whopping 7.2 inch 18.7:9 Full HD display. When combined with the DOLBY Atmos audio, it certainly feels like I’m in my own mobile movie theater. It is an absolute treat to stream YouTube videos and Netflix movies, even listening to music on Spotify became candy to my ears!
With its Full HD display, I no longer have to worry about not being able to stream at the best quality I possibly could on YouTube
PERFORMANCE: HUAWEI Y MAX REVIEW
Before I talk about the phone’s performance, here are the various benchmark scores the Huawei Y Max garnered:
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor is no slouch and I think it works perfectly for the Y Max. Playing games are terribly fun on this phone, Especially Asphalt 9 and Shadowfight 4 which even has no lag when played with the highest quality settings. The huge screen and full HD display further heightens the gaming experience
I had quite a lot of fun playing around with the Huawei Y Max. Its 128 GB storage allows me to download any game i want without having to worry about storage. It is also expandable to 256 GB with a Micro SD Card.
Sometimes, i feel like the screen is quite sensitive, since when i hold the phone my hand ends up tapping things i don’t intend to tap.
CAMERA: HUAWEI Y MAX REVIEW
I’ve been excited to try out the camera of the Huawei Y Max, so here are some of the sample photos I’ve taken
Under bright light, the camera could take really great pictures while keeping the details. Sadly, I wouldn’t say the same for low light pictures, as it tends to lose a bit of quality, but I could say that the pictures still look pretty dope!
Comparing the HDR and the standard camera mode, there isn’t much of a difference as i see it.
The AR mode also has a couple of cute filters you could try out
I’m not exactly fond of the beauty mode, since i felt like my face looked photoshopped
BATTERY: HUAWEI Y MAX REVIEW
I have two words to describe the battery life of this phone : Absolutely insane! It has lasted me 17 hours of use, and possibly even more. With its 5000 mAH battery, you can say goodbye to the power bank and say hello to more than a day of use.
CONCLUSION
I had a wonderful time reviewing this phone. With its large size and versatile spectrum of use, I would recommend this to people who really enjoy long hours of video streaming, and people who simply want a large phone.
Personally, the size is kind of too big for my taste, but eventually, I simply just got used to it and enjoyed all the same.
PROS
